I'll take my icecream in a bag please...

For last week's scouting activity, the scouts made icecream in a bag. I didn't get to stay to see them do it, but Ronni gave me a bag to take home, and I finally made it tonight, and it was YUMMY! Here's the recipe:

1 cup half-and-half cream
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups coarsely crushed ice cubes
3/4 cup salt

In a small resealable plastic bag, combine the cream, sugar and vanilla. Press out air and seal. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the ice and salt; add the sealed small bag. Seal the large bag; place in another large resealable plastic bag and seal. Shake and knead for 5-7 minutes or until cream mixture is thickened. Serve immediately or freeze.

We made the ice cream at an Empty Nester's activity in our ward.

After assembling everything, we placed the bags on a bath towel and two individuals grabbed the long ends of the towel and with an undulating motion tossed and rolled the bag from one end of the towel to the other. It took about 15 minutes maximum for it to turn into ice cream that was harder than soft serve, and delicious.
