IKAT

Ikat's everywhere right now and I love it. Here are two affordable Ikat options. I love the Anthropologie dress best, it makes me wish I could wear summer dresses like this. The pillow's really a steal though at $19.

for those rainy days

I think deep down inside, we all secretly wish we had a big clear plastic umbrella on a rainy day, you know, the kind thats almost dome-shaped? I have ever since I was a little kid reading Dr.Seuss books, I remember this one character that had a clear plastic umbrella growing out of it's head, since then, every time I think the perfect umbrella that picture pops into my head. When you've got a big, black umbrella and you're walking down the street, half the time you can't even see where you're going because you have to tip it forward to keep out the rain. Not so with the big plastic umbrella, you can see right out of that thing. Anyways, in blueprint this month, I found a link to a company, frankford umbrellas that sells them, and I can't wait to order mine so that I can walk around the street like that crazy Dr. Seuss character.

piles of old tee-shirts

The other night I was talking to my dad about all those old shirts that pile up in my closet from races, etc...that I can't throw away but never use. In the back of my head I was thinking, one day, this will make a great quilt, but obviously that's not going to happen anytime soon, but the other day I found another "someday" kind of thing to do with old shirts that actually seems more feasible that the huge tee-shirt quilt idea. I happened across this site, it basically shows you how to take your old tee-shirts and turn them into a bag, I was thinking of all the great striped and patterned shirts I've thrown away over the years with regret. If I make one, i'll be sure to post the pictures!

regina spektor

Last night, Brooke and Christian and I went to go see Regina Spektor at the Warfield, which is in one of the most sketchy parts of the city BTW. But she was amazing, Brooke says she has perfect pitch, and I agree, but she also has a huge range and she used all of it last night. You wouldn't expect such a powerful voice becuase she is very self-effacing, shy and modest when talking to the audience.
