coco

I can't wait to see this. I'm a sucker for anything with Audrey Tautou, plus I've never really read about the life of "Coco" Chanel, and i'm guessing it's very interesting.

rainbow cake!!

We made this last night at Diane's house and had a great time eating it. We all had a huge sugar rush, and then promptly crashed.

*found at omnomicon, although we chose to skip instructions that made it fat free, if you're going all out with the colors, might as well go all out with the fat!

oh how I love shoes

These shoes from Marius make me so happy, and I went to the site thinking they were going to be a few hundred/sold in europe/etc. only to find they are actually all sold in the US and priced nicely around $50. Plus, don't they just look comfortable? I just want to know how they ended up making them in all my favorite colors...

jelly bean bag

This idea from the purlbee blog looks like so much fun, wouldn't it be neat to put these in your child's room in a big glass (or plastic) jar? It especially appeals to the candy-lover in me. Now I just need to get a sewing machine one of these days...

*the purl bee is a great resource for (slightly expensive) wool felt in great colors, I think this rainbow mix would be especially good for making the beans. You can also find fun colors of wool felt on Etsy, just make sure the percent of wool is high, otherwise it won't be nice and soft.

the fool in me

I must learn to love the fool in me--the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool.

sas fabric

During our quick weekend trip to Phoenix, Brooke and I stopped by SAS fabrics in Tempe. My mom was with us but once she got a whiff of the 50-year old fabrics, she decided to take a nap in the car. I thought the store was awesome, they had everything you could think of, any color of pom-poms, ric-rac, stuffed animal eyes, whole aisles of vinyl, walls lined with every color of lace, rows of jersey, boxes and boxes of buttons, and even leather scraps. It was basically the flea-market version of a fabric store and I was in heaven!

silhouette blue

I was recently trying the "pounce" feature on Etsy and I came across these super-cute notecards from the Etsy seller Silhouette Blue. I love the colors and drawings, and I can picture which of my family each would go to. Plus the price is amazing for a set of personalized stationary, it's inspiring me to get out there and make my own stuff!

winter song

This song by sara bereilles and ingrid michaelson made me happy today. Winter here can seem like it's never ending, but when spring comes along, it feels like a miracle, and I appreciate every little bud and flower so much more than I ever did in the past.

fun project

This tutorial from Genine makes me so happy, I have been wanted to follow her lead and make my own stamps for so long, but somehow I had forgotten she posted her own little do-it-yourself manual on how to get started. Isn't she the best illustrator?!

goodbye mr. smarmy

I'm happy today because this show finally ended and I am released from it's strange hold on me. It's a really awful cheesy show, but I kept watching. (probably because gossip girl has been re-runs for a month now...)Now I am just happy to be done with the "most dramatic ever's", "I'm falling for you's" and "just listen to your heart's" nonsense that they kept repeating over and over again every week. Goodbye bachelor, I think i'm done watching for good now.

what a little deer!

On Sunday, this post from Fine Little Love made me happy. Especially the picture of this little deer. It was rescued via c-section after it's mother was hit by a car. You can read all about it at the Daily Mail. His name is Rupert, and I wish I could bring him home and nurse him back to health.
