Nie Nie Day

I am a sometimes reader/stalker of a really funny blog, C Jane Run. Recently, her sister (Nie Nie) & her husband were badly injured in a plane crash that took the life of the pilot. I don't know any of these people personally, but it has been amazing to watch the blogging community rally around Nie Nie's family and the incredible things that are being done to raise money to aid in thier recovery. It is really touching, it reminds me to value what is most important, and most of all, that even though we're all over the country with our little blogs, we make up a community and we can support each other in our times of need.

Here's a list of a few sites with auctions going to raise money; C Jane Run, Design Mom, Oh Happy Day, Auntie Ann, Everything I Love, and many, many more. Spread the word!

New York, I Love You

I am so excited to see this movie, I just had to post it so I wouldn't forget. I love the little bit of Regina Spektor in the trailer. I think i've seen Paris je t'aime about 20 times now...I'm glad I can now look forward to something new! Thanks to Jordan for sharing.

orange, wedding dresses and air show

This weekend Diane and went down to Chicago for brunch, and then to look at wedding dresses for her. I had a blast. First we had frushi at Orange...which I have been wanting to try for a long time, it's basically fruit sushi, and they have different things depending on the day. Also, we shared the pancake flight which is 4 different types of silver dollar pancakes with a geographic theme. Saturday's theme was French, so we had chocolate ganache pancakes with chocolate whipped cream, pancakes with butter rum syrup, pancakes with strawberries and ricotta, and my favorite, the apple pancakes with an apple cider reduction.
So tasty! We walked down to the water afterwards to watch the air show, and met a cute puppy, prudence, and saw some crazy planes.
Finally we made it to the boutique on oak street where Diane tried on several gorgeous wedding dresses. It was a great day.

gallery wall

I'm working on a gallery-style wall for the wide expanse of wall above our couch. I've been collecting favorite prints from Etsy over the last 6 months, and last weekend I made the trek out to Ikea to buy some inexpensive frames. I'll post pictures once it's all matted, framed, and hung. In the meantime, here's my inspiration.

pidge & midge

My coworker and I had to find some milkweed for Mo when he was still a hungry caterpillar. Two of the leaves we brought in had eggs on them, and on Friday, Midge & Pidge hatched....the monarch fun goes on!

old navy!?

I can't believe all of this cute stuff is from Old Navy. It's all under $30 so it's perfect for the starving student budget.

what on earth?!

Don't ask me why I was on NASA's Jet Propulsion website but I came across a really interesting page there: "...This is neither an impact crater nor a volcano. It is a perfect circular intrusion, about 10 km in diameter..."

Is anyone else out there thinking, 'this is the weirdest thing on this planet, why haven't I heard of it?' If so, you're not alone.

my not-so-white bed

*our bed, enjoying cleaner days...

Last night as I was changing the sheets on our bedding, I couldn't help but notice how filthy our duvet is. It was not the best idea in the world to buy a white duvet with the muddy paws of a dog in my near future.

If I had to go back and do it all again (this time it would have to be without the great PB discount), this is the bedding I would get:
