Chicago art institute

Mahana no Atua - Paul Gaugin

For our anniversary, Jim gave me a membership to the Art Institute of Chicago. They have an amazing website where you can see almost their entire collection. I spent a whole day there before I started my job and these are only a few of my favorites that I was able to take decent pictures of.
I'm not sure of the artist, but I love this painting, the bright house under the dark spooky trees.
Lemons on a Pewter Plate - Matisse

Icebound - Twachtman

This last painting is fitting...I feel icebound! The snow melts and re-freezes, so we're left with gray ice everywhere. I've been in denial lately that winter is still in full force, and I've been walking the dog without gloves or a hat. When will it end so I can clean the salt off my shoes and put my puffy jacket in storage??

I LOVE the art museum! What a great gift. I think my love of the art from the museum came from a fun game we use to play all the time. Masterpiece - The art auction game. It's such a FUN game!!!

that matisse looks familiar. Mom has a print at the PC house. enjoy the art! Do they have any of Thomas Kinkade's work in there?

No Thomas Kinkade, the museum is nice, but clearly not up to University Mall caliber work, hehe! You guys need to come visit us, bring the dogs!
