We took a wedding video, and even though I hate watching video of myself, i'm glad we did it, it's nice to have the real feel of the day, because I remember so little of it! I can imagine that 20 years from now, when Tessa's grown up, she's sit and laugh at our goofy selves and comment on how young and skinny we used to be!

The video is from Pacing the Panic Room. I've loved and followed his blog since he did the 40 weeks series documenting his wife's pregnancy, when they chose the name Tessa for their daughter, I knew it was a cool enough name to deserve it's spot at the top of our list. I love all of his videos for so many reasons, the focus, the music, and the list goes on.

Anyway, this all made me more excited for Sara's wedding at the end of next month, can't wait to be together in Phoenix with the whole family sweating it out and celebrating!

I am in love with Pyrex refrigerator dishes. I'm crossing my fingers that i'll stumble upon a set at the thrift store sometime soon because I can't talk myself into the $50 price-tag they come with on etsy!Swoon

Ender's Game

I finally got around to reading this popular book during our recent trip to Hawaii. The funny thing was that it took me a whole week to read what I normally would have finished on one flight, that's what happens when you become a mom, I guess I should count myself lucky that I finished it on our trip.

Anyway, I loved it, and would highly recommend it!
And here's the reason I wasn't doing any light reading on a plane, she looks cute, but keep try to keep her in a 2 square foot space for 5 hours and she begins to melt down!

The girl likes to eat...

I was going through some old photos and found these super cute ones of Tessa having some beets with her dad. These perfectly illustrate how much our girl loves to eat! She'll sit there with her mouth open wide, waiting for the next bite, just like a baby bird, and she gets frustrated if you take to long, or get distracted and leave her hanging! But no matter how much food is on her face, or how mad she gets, we still think she's the cutest girl we know!

I can not believe that my little sister is getting married! The most exciting part right now is helping her plan her wedding, I just have to try not to be too overbearing, it isn't my second wedding after all! Here are some pictures for you Sara!

CAKE: Cake toppers are the best, I especially love the Small Object's custom toppers & vintage ones from this place in Los Gatos!



DECORATIONS: Balloons, tissue flowers, banners, so much fun!





DRESSES: I love old classics, short dresses, bustles.

DESERT THEME: If the wedding is in Phoenix, I think she definitely needs to include some little cactus' and succulents on the tables!

An Education

James and I watched "An Education" this weekend. It was a great little movie, great acting, story, setting, etc. Carey Mulligan is officially my new favorite actress, she played this character perfectly, and it also helped that she had the most perfect hair & beautiful clothes, obviously not in the picture above...

General Conference

We were running this morning and missed the majority of Saturday general conference, however, I love the new church website that allows you to listen to individual talks, I've been catching up and it feels like watching it with Tivo--sorry choir singers! Two talks that stood out to me in the morning session were M. Russell Ballard's on mothers and daughters, so poignant to me right now as a new mother and as I work with the Young Women in our ward. I also enjoyed Henry B. Eyring's talk on the importance of strengthening testimonies early.

living room redesign

Do you ever have one of those nights where you just can't sleep because your mind is racing? I am having one tonight...the coke slurpee I drank while watching the olympics probably didn't help! Tonight I am thinking about the fact that we have lived in this house for 6 months and we have done little more than move in the furniture (I have a big excuse that I have been using that starts with the letter T). After spending a little while on paper, and some time on the internet, here is my initial idea.

This painting is my inspiration, I found during my week visiting my parents in Phoenix while going through one of my old boxes. I love the way it captures the feeling of the desert, the light and immense sky. I want to paint something similar, but on a much larger scale to go above our couch.

Here's a sketch of the rest of the room, as it appears in my imagination.

I think this indoor/outdoor fabric Jenny mentioned on her blog would be great for curtains & would compliment the colors in the painting.


Pillows in this pattern in one of these two colors.

Finally, on the wall opposite the windows I really want to put up a collection of old family photos, parents, grandparents, this is one of my favorites, my mom in Iran.

Well, that's my idea for the time being. I would love to hear what anyone thinks. I am considering hiring a designer for help, but only hesitate because I have such a small budget that I'm afraid if I do that, I won't have anything left at the end for the actual decorating.
